Poughkeepsie, New York – On July 17, 2015, New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested 24-year-old Gregory M. Longworth of Wappingers Falls, NY, and Jahlil Bey, age 25, of the City of Pouhkeepsie for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, a Class A-II Felony.  Bey was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor.

On July 17, 2015 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Longworth was operating a vehicle on Sheafe Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie and was stopped by a Trooper for not wearing his seatbelt.  While the Trooper interviewed both men, Bey, a passenger in the vehicle, engaged in a physical confrontation with the Trooper and then fled on foot into a wooded area.  A package containing heroin was dropped by Bey while he struggled with the Trooper.

With the assistance of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, the Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department and other State Police units, a perimeter was swiftly established.  Bey was later observed emerging from a wooded area a short distance from the traffic stop and taken into custody by the Village of Wappingers Falls Police.

Bey and Longworth were charged with possessing approximately 201 grams of heroin with a potential street value of over $30,000.  Additionally, over $4800 in cash was seized.

The defendants were arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Court before Town Justice Heather Kitchen and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.  They are scheduled to return to the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on July 22, 2015 at 5:30 p.m.
