Troy man charge with selling controlled substance

Canaan, New York – On July 1, 2015, New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested 25-year-old Michael A. Bermas, of Troy, New York, for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, a Class D Felony.

In May of 2015, Troopers were dispatched to investigate a drug complaint at the Berkshire Union Free School.  An investigation revealed that Bermas was selling Xanax at the Berkshire Union Free School to teen-residents.  Bermas was an employee at the school.

Bermas was arraigned before the Town of Canaan Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $7500 cash bail or $15,000 bond.  He is due to re-appear in the Town of Canaan Court on July 7, 2015.
