Claverack woman arrested for shooting neighbor’s dog

Claverack, New York – On June 18, 2015, New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Linda Derosa, 62 years old, of Claverack, New York, for Aggravated Animal Cruelty, a Class E Felony.

On June 14, 2015, Troopers were dispatched to a Palmer Road residence to investigate the suspicious death of a dog. The family informed the investigating Trooper that they had located their family dog, deceased, on their property behind the neighbor’s home. The dog “Poppy” appeared to have died as the result of a gunshot wound.

Following an investigation conducted by police, it was discovered that Derosa shot Poppy with a .22 rifle.

Derosa was issued an appearance ticket ordering her to appear before the Town of Claverack Court on July 21, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.
