State Police investigate fatal Germantown collision

Germantown, New York – On June 17, 2015, the New York State Police in Livingston investigated a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred on State Route 9G in the Town of Germantown.
Eugene G. Varasteh, age 51, of South Cairo, New York, was traveling southbound on a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle, when a deer entered the roadway. Varasteh subsequently struck the deer and was ejected from the motorcycle.
Varasteh was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital and airlifted to Albany Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Mr. Varasteh died as a result of the crash later that evening.
The State Police were assisted by the Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
