State Police at Liberty Make Arrest in Embezzlement from Cemetary

On Saturday June 13, 2015 State Police at Liberty arrested Deborah Lyden, age 61 of Liberty, NY after an investigation into the theft of funds from the Liberty Cemetary located on Cold Spring Rd in the Village of Liberty.

In March 2015, it was reported to State Police that large sums of money were missing from the accounts of the Liberty Cemetary Association.  A subsequent investigation determined that Lyden, the association’s treasurer had stolen approximately $80,000 in funds.

Lyden was charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, a felony.  She was arraigned in the Town of Rockland Court and released after posting $25,000 bond.
