Canaan, New York – On June 6, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Livingston barracks charged 4 Berkshire Farm residents with Burglary 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, both Class D Felonies, following a burglary complaint reported to police early Saturday morning.

Troopers were dispatched to the Berkshire Farm Center for a reported burglary that occurred during the overnight hours.

A detailed investigation revealed that four residents left their cottages during the night and unlawfully entered an administrative building on the center’s campus. The youths damaged multiple offices throughout the building and were located shortly after the incident occurred.

Two 13-year-old residents, due to their ages, were issued Family Court appearance tickets directing them to appear in Family Court, on June 8, 2015.  They were transported to a secure youth detention facility in Albany, New York.

Quajon Rhodes and Cordell Gentry, both 16 years old, were arraigned before the Town of Canaan Court.  They were remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
