Obituary, Elizabeth (Libby) A. Pulver

Elizabeth (Libby) A. Pulver passed away in Pompano Beach, FL, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband, Morgan J. Pulver, Jr.

 

Born in Patterson, NY, on June 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Macartney. She is also predeceased by her siblings: Ethel (Ralph) DeGraw, Muriel (Augustino) Cavalieri, John Macartney, Margaret (Leon) Tompkins, Alice Phillips, and Joan Britton.

 

Libby graduated from Carmel High School in 1946. During WW II, she was a member of the United States Citizens Defense Corps and a part of the Aircraft Warning Service of the U.S. Army qualifying for an Observer Identification card.

 

Libby married Morgan J. Pulver, Jr., on October 3, 1948. She worked as a secretary in the Carmel Central School District in two different elementary schools, Patterson Elementary and Kent Primary, retiring in June of 1984. After retirement, she and Morgan moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

 

Libby was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was a very proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother! Besides being devoted to her family, Libby loved to travel with Morgan! They enjoyed cruising in the Caribbean and the Hawaiian Islands, traveling to Europe, and attending annual Navy reunions for Morgan’s battleship. In her spare time, Libby loved to read and to knit. Her grandsons called the blankets she knitted for them their “Granny Blankets”!

 

Libby is survived by her daughter Eileen Pavletic and husband Frank of IL; two grandsons, John (Courtney) of Zionsville, IN, and Thomas (Alyssa Alonso) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and five great-grandchildren, Katherine, Henry, Olivia, Mason, and Logan.

 

A graveside service will be held in Pawling Cemetery, Pawling, NY, at 11 AM on April 27, 2024.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Patterson Library, Patterson, NY.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Horn & Thomes Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.
