One Charged After Failure to Comply

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Scott W. Owen, age 27 of Poughkeepsie, on 1/14/24 in the Town of Poughkeepsie in connection with a failure to comply.

On the aforesaid date at approximately 11:10 pm a Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 9 near the Town of Hyde Park/Town of Poughkeepsie border, at which time the operator failed to comply. After going through numerous jurisdictions the operator finally stopped and was taken into custody, at which time he was positively identified as Mr. Owen.

At this time Mr. Owen has been charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated (misd), reckless driving (misd), unlawfully fleeing a police officer in the 3rd degree (misd), and numerous traffic offenses. After being processed he was released on appearance tickets with arraignment dates in both the Town and City of Poughkeepsie Courts.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this incident by the New York State Police, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, and City of Poughkeepsie Police.

As with any criminal case the charges described above are merely accusations and Mr. Owen is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
