Nellie Louise Boone, 84, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT.
A long-time resident of Wingdale, NY, she was born in Kinston, NC on Christmas Day, December 25, 1939, and was the daughter of the late George Oliver Rhem and Ella Louise Daniel. On September 8, 1960, she married William Magnus Boone, who predeceases her.
Before she retired, Nellie worked at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center, Wingdale as a CNA.
Nellie loved watching movies, being near the ocean, and having a good chat with family and close friends. She was a proud alumna of the Adkin High School Pirates in Kinston, NC and attended many of their reunions.
She is survived by her son Barry Magnus Boone (Denise) of Carrollton, TX; daughter Belinda Renee Boone of Wingdale, NY; sister Jean Wiggins (Jesse) of Durham, NC; grandsons Reginald Magnus Boone (Angela) of Aubrey, TX and Thaddeus Freeman Boone (Bekah), also of Aubrey, TX; and four great-grandchildren, Kensington Ann Boone, Reginald Magnus Boone II, Renee Elizabeth Boone, and Hannah Ruth Boone. Nellie is also survived by her in-laws; Willie C. Boone, Jr. (Julia) of Edenton, NC, Joyce Cole of Edenton, NC, Lydia Boone of Potecasi, NC, and George T. Boone (Shirley) of Glen Allen, VA. Additionally, she is survived by a host of cherished nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 4-6 PM, with a Memorial Service at 5:30 PM, at which time family and friends may share a memory or story about Nellie.
A Memorial Service will be held in North Carolina at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Nellie may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
