John J. Gamache, 69, resident of Dover Plains, NY passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
A prior long-time resident of Holmes, NY, John was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on July 21, 1954, and was the son of the late George F. and Violet T. (Knipling) Gamache.
John was a self-employed handyman who worked at various area businesses, including Horn & Thomes Funeral Home.
“Johnny was a life-long adventurer and free spirit. He had a deep love for the great outdoors and helping others. John was proud of the land where he grew up on Bundy Hill in Holmes. He enjoyed working in the garden and finding peace of mind in the woods. Passed down by his father George, John believed in utilizing his land for its resources and spent a lot of time fishing, hunting, and gathering. No matter how bumpy the road, Johnny always enjoyed the ride.”
He is survived by his son Jeremy and companion Alicia Sraperotti of Pawling, daughter Jeannie Hoel of Missouri, and long-time companion Frances VanKeuran of Dover Plains.
There are no services at this time but will be held at a future date.
