8 year old child sustains serious injuries in car accident with Dover woman

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Town of Poughkeepsie Police reports that they are investigating a two-car personal-injury auto accident that occurred on April 26th, 2015 at 7 pm.

The car accident occurred at the intersection of Taft Avenue and Maple Street Extension of State Route 44/55.

A 2010 Mazda 3, operated by a 21 year old female from Dover Plains, was traveling southbound on Taft Avenue and collided with a westbound 2004 Chrysler Town and Country, operated by a 41 year old woman from Poughkeepsie.

The 21 year old Dover Plains operator of the Mazda 3 was the only occupant of the vehicle and was transported to the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center by the Arlington Fire District with minor injuries.

The operator of the Chrysler Town and Country sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester County by the Arlington Fire District.

Police said the Chrysler had three children inside the vehicle that ranged in ages from 8 to 13 years old. All of the children were transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center.

An 8 year old child sustained serious injuries and was later flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY.

The investigation is ongoing and police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department at 845-485-3666.
