Kingston woman arrested after child found in roadway by motorist

PRESS RELEASE

On April 2nd, 2015, the members of the New York State Police at SP Ellenville, arrested Stephanie Nelson, 22, of Kingston, for Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the Town of Wawarsing, NY.

The New York State Police conducted an investigation into a child less than two years old walking in the roadway alone and under dressed for the weather with no shoes found by a third party driving down the road.

The child was with the motorist for approximately five minutes while that individual called CPS to report the child alone and unaccounted for.

The mother of the child eventually came out of the residence and down the street to recover her child.

The investigation revealed that the child was at the residence with her father, grandfather and mother during the time of the incident and it fell upon the mother to have been watching the child during that time.

Stephanie Nelson was arrested and processed at SP Ellenville. She was released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Wawarsing Court on April 10th, 2015 at 8:30 am.
