Trooper injured during stalking arrest in Town of Monroe

PRESS RELEASE

On Thursday, April 2, 2015, the New York State Police in Monroe arrested Jose Ribeiro, 45, of Monroe for criminal contempt in the first degree, assault in the second degree, stalking in the third degree and resisting arrest.

Ribeiro was observed stalking a neighbor who had a valid order of protection against him for a previous stalking incident.

Ribeiro engaged responding Troopers and fought them while resisting arrest.

During the struggle, a Trooper suffered a fractured hand.

Ribeiro was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center for an apparent drug/alcohol overdose and is currently awaiting arraignment on the charges.
