Poughkeepsie man charged with felony following traffic stop for seat belt violation

Wappinger, New York – On January 31, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks arrested Terrell K. Brock, 32 years old, of Poughkeepsie, New York, for Criminal Contempt 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, a Misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law offenses.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle Brock was operating on State Route 9 in the Town of Wappinger after observing him not wearing a seatbelt. While approaching the vehicle, a one-year-old child was observed unsecured in the back seat. An additional passenger seated in the rear of the vehicle was discovered to be the protected party of a valid stay away order of protection against Brock.

Brock was charged with Criminal Contempt 1st Degree due to having two prior Criminal Contempt 2nd convictions within the last 5 years. He was also found to be driving with a revoked New York State Driver’s License and operating without an interlock device equipped vehicle.

Brock was arraigned before the Town of Wappinger Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to return to the Town of Wappinger Court on February 3, 2015 at 5:30 p.m.
