Obituary, Doris Goddard

 

MILLBROOK – Doris Goddard of Millbrook, N.Y. passed away March 23, 2018, at home with her family by her side.

Born July 09, 1933 in Poughkeepsie. N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John Perrotta & Eleanor Campbell Perrotta.

Doris spent her childhood in the Mt. Carmel area of Poughkeepsie. She married Stafford Goddard in 1951. Afterward, they were the owners of the Esso gas station located on Franklin Avenue in Millbrook until 1958. It was later relocated to Pleasant Valley, N.Y. where it was known as Goddard’s Service Station through 2004.

In addition to being a full-time homemaker and partner in the family business, Doris enjoyed several part-time jobs. She worked at the Podiatry office in Pleasant Valley and Village Antiques & Rare Finds in Millbrook, N.Y. Through the years Doris enjoyed the many friends she made there.

She is survived by her two sons, Dean and David, daughter-in-law Karla, her beloved granddaughter Anna (Goddard) Russell and husband Nicholas of Richmond, Virginia and two great-granddaughters, Carolina & Eleanor. Doris is also survived by her sister Eleanor Sinai, nephews Mike & Gary, and many nieces and nephews.

Doris is predeceased by her husband and her brothers, Albert and William.

The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for Doris during her last few months, and for the wonderful care & comfort provided by the staff at Lutheran Care Rehab. and Hudson Valley Hospice.

Private memorial services will be in Millbrook at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, a local SPCA, or the American Cancer Society.
