Obituary, Beth Brothwell Mitchell

Parrish, FL – Beth Brothwell Mitchell, 64, a former Hudson Valley resident for many years, passed away after a short illness on January 1, 2018 at the Tidewell Hospice in Palmetto, FL.

Beth was born in Troy, NY on December 16, 1953, to Walton and Ruth (Haggerty) Brothwell, both deceased. She grew up in Millbrook, where she graduated high school in 1971 and attended college courses at SUNY Ulster.

Beth was employed at the Dutchess County Family Court in Poughkeepsie, NY as the Senior Court Clerk for many years; previously working as a Court Clerk and Police Department Secretary in the Village of Millbrook, NY.

On July 6, 1974, Beth married Jeff Mitchell, her loving husband who survives at home. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Cory and Greg, and Greg’s wife, Mary. She is also survived by her loving sister, Pam Todd and her husband Jim along with their children, Sheri, Mindy, and Jamie, along with several great-nieces and nephews.

Beth expressed herself creatively through photography. After retirement, she had the chance to develop her photographic skills, winning several awards and accolades. As well, retirement and a larger house, offered her the opportunity to take up one of her greatest passions, playing the drums.

She loved life and lived it to the fullest, taking every opportunity to go on cruises, attend concerts, festivals, and shows.

Plans for a memorial service in Millbrook will be announced at a later date.

Beth supported many charitable organizations, most important to her though were those protecting animals. Her adopted cats, Ella and Bodie Boy, miss her dearly. Donations, in her name, may be made to The Humane Society.
