Putnam Valley Man Arrested for Heroin Possession

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrest of a twenty-eight-year-old Putnam Valley man for heroin possession.

On January 11th, 2018, at about 11:01 pm, sheriff’s patrol responded to the area of Bonie Wood Drive in the Town of Putnam Valley for a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Deputies Brian Neary, Kevin Radovich, and Keith Simone arrived on location and located the vehicle. Subsequent investigation revealed the passenger in the vehicle, Maher I. Jamal, to be in possession of a quantity of alleged heroin and prescription pills to which he was not authorized to possess.

The deputies arrested Jamal and transported him to the Putnam County Correctional Facility for processing. Jamal was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

While processing the arrest, deputies discovered that Jamal had an outstanding warrant out of Putnam County Court for Felony Drug Possession. The defendant was processed and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on the warrant and is currently awaiting arraignment on the new charges.
