Kiryas Joel man arrested following hit and run accident

The State Police in Monroe have arrested Yudah Zimmerman, age 24 of Kiryas Joel, for Leaving the Scene of a Serious Physical Injury Accident (E Felony) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A Misdemeanor).
On November 9, 2016 at approximately 5:00 PM, the State Police in Monroe responded to a hit and run accident on Siget Court in the Village of Kiryas Joel. An eight year old boy was found lying unresponsive in the roadway after having been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle had fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. The boy was transported to Westchester Medical Center and treated for serious internal injuries.
After an extensive investigation, State Police identified Yudah Zimmerman as the driver of the vehicle that stuck the child. Zimmerman had been working as a delivery man in the area at the time of the accident.
The case was ultimately presented before and Orange County Grand Jury and on December 14, 2017 Zimmerman was indicted on the above named charges. Yudah Zimmerman was arrested and remanded to the Orange County jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail pending further court proceedings.
