State Police investigate a fatal accident in the Town of Liberty

The State Police in Liberty are investigating a two car fatal accident that occurred on Sullivan Ave in the Town of Liberty.
On December 19, 2017 at approximately 6:10 PM a Nissan Versa being operated by Zakiyah Toro, age 23 of Liberty, was traveling south on Sullivan Ave. Also in the vehicle were Alberto Corchado age 8 and Zyiarah Corchado age 5 both of Liberty. The Nissan did cross into the northbound lane and was struck head-on by a Chevy Cobalt.
Alberto Corchado was initially transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center and then flown to Westchester Medical Center for internal injuries. In the early morning hours of December 20, 2017, Corchado was pronounced deceased at Westchester Medical Center.
Zakiya Toro and Zyiarah Corchado were both transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
The driver and passanger of the Chevy Cobalt were extricated from the vehicle by the Liberty Fire Department and transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
