SHERMAN, Conn. (July 6, 2017). Bring the family for a guided exploration of the forest, fields and ponds at Deer Pond Farm, The Connecticut Audubon Society’s newest sanctuary in Sherman, Conn. We’ll hike the near trails in search of birds and other forest critters as we learn about their special, ecologically diverse home that straddles the border of New York and Connecticut.

The one-hour walks are offered at 9 a.m. on Fridays July 28 and August 4. They cover approximately one mile of moderate elevation change, and are recommended for children 5 years and up; no strollers, please.

Reservations are required as each walk is limited to 20 people. They are free for Connecticut Audubon Society members; $5 for nonmembers. To register online, please visit www.ctaudubon.org/deer-pond-farm; for more information call 860-799-4074 x 105.

The entrance to Deer Pond Farm is located at 57 Wakeman Hill Road, Sherman, Conn. Walkers will meet in the parking area near the flagpole and birdfeeders. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes; dress for the weather, and bring water, bug spray, sunscreen and binoculars if you have them. Walks are cancelled in the event of rain.
