Two Putnam County men arrested following robbery investigation

Brewster, New York – On July 5, 2017, New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested 16-year-old Daniel Rahn of Brewster, New York, for Robbery in the 1st Degree, a Class B Felony, and Assault in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony.  Also arrested was Michael J. Villegas, 20 years old, of Brewster, for Robbery in the 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony.

On July 5, 2017 at approximately 12:43 a.m., the Village of Brewster Police Department and Troopers from the Brewster Barracks responded to Marvin Avenue for a reported robbery.  The victim, a 30-year-old Brewster man, reported that he was walking on Marvin Avenue when two young men approached him.  The victim tried to flee, but was attacked.  The suspects forcibly stole $3 from the victim and stabbed him with a knife during the attack before fleeing into a wooded area.  The victim was transported by the Village of Brewster Rescue Squad to Danbury Hospital where he was treated with a non-life threatening laceration to his right bicep.

State Police investigation, led to identity and arrest of the two culprits.

Both defendants were arraigned in the Village of Brewster Court.  Rahn was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.  Villegas was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.  Rahn and Villegas are due to reappear in the Village of Brewster Court on July 10, 2017.
