Misunderstanding about snow removal

Misunderstanding about snow removal

I did not tell the Town of Amenia code enforcement officer to send out notice of violation letters for the removal of snow and ice ordinance to residents of Wassaic or anywhere else. He was told to do this by a town board member, who did not inform me, Deputy Supervisor Vicki Doyle or Councilman Stephen Perotti about this request.

At the Oct. 23, 2014 town board meeting, Deputy Supervisor Doyle, Councilman Perotti and I voted to accept the snow removal bid from Majestic Site Development and Landscaping. Since Majestic had the contract to do the snow removal, they or I should have been informed of any snow or ice issues. It is our job as representatives of this community to help the people and not to maliciously hurt our town residents. Helping is what the three town board members were doing when we voted to hire Majestic to do the sidewalks.

If there are any other issues with snow and ice removal, please call my office. This has been a long, difficult winter and every one is doing the best they can to deal with it.
