Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Putnam Valley man on charges of narcotics possession and sale after he allegedly sold pain-killers to an undercover investigator. Mr. Christopher M. Cardillo, aged 31, of Morrissey Drive, is facing a half-dozen felony counts in the case.

In July 2016, an investigator assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) developed information that Mr. Cardillo was allegedly involved in the illicit sale of prescription medications within the county. During the ensuing probe, the suspect allegedly sold Oxycodone pills to an undercover investigator on three different occasions. On February 22, 2017, members of the NEU took the subject into custody at his residence.

Mr. Cardillo was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, all class B felonies. The defendant was arraigned before Town of Carmel Justice Thomas Jacobellis, acting on behalf of the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court, and was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500.00 cash bail or $1,000.00 bail bond. Cash bail was posted on February 25th to secure the defendant’s release from jail pending further court action.

If found guilty of the felony charges, the defendant could face up to 25 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to $30,000.00 on each count.
