Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Carmel man on a drug possession charge.

On February 25, 2017 at 9:09 p.m., members of the Sheriff’s Office Special Conditions Unit (SCU) observed a vehicle being driven along the shoulder of the roadway on Argonne Road in the Town of Southeast. A traffic stop was initiated, and subsequent investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Mr. William C. Reimer, aged 29, of 22 Westleigh Road in Carmel, allegedly was in possession of a quantity of Alprazolam for which he did not possess a valid prescription.

Mr. Reimer was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor. He was also cited for traffic infractions. The defendant was processed and released on his own recognizance pending a future appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court.

If found guilty of the drug charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a maximum fine of $1,000.00.
