East Fishkill Man Arrested in Kent on Warrant and Traffic Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Dutchess County man in the Town of Kent on February 20, 2017. Mr. Jermaine J. Evans, aged 29, of 3875 Route 52 in East Fishkill, was allegedly driving with a suspended license and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest when he was pulled over for traffic violations.

At about 12:27 a.m. on February 20th, Deputy Sheriff Eric Hayes was on patrol on Route 52 in Kent when he pulled over Mr. Evans’ car for having a loud muffler. Upon running a computer check, the deputy determined that the Dutchess resident’s license had been suspended for prior scofflaws. The deputy also learned that Mr. Evans was the subject of a bench warrant issued by the Town of Kent Justice Court in reference to a case being handled by the Town of Kent Police Department.

The deputy arrested Mr. Evans and charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor. The deputy then turned the defendant over to the custody of the Kent P.D. for further action on the bench warrant.

If found guilty of the suspended driving charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
