Public Invited to Discuss Needs for Individuals with Intellectual
and Developmental Disabilities

Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health (DBCH) announced today a public forum on Thursday, March 7 to discuss service needs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The forum will take place from 4-6 pm in the training room at DBCH at 230 North Road in Poughkeepsie.

“We invite and encourage the public to come out and share their thoughts and ideas about what services are needed in our community,” said Margaret Hirst, LCSW-R, Acting DBCH Commissioner. “Our forums enable us to meet the individuals and families we serve to better understand the challenges they face each day. By listening to their concerns and suggestions, we can plan services for the upcoming year that will have the most positive impact on their lives.”

Families and caregivers are especially encouraged to participate and provide input about what services are needed to help shape the 2018 Local Services Plan for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

For those unable to attend, or who do not feel comfortable speaking in public, the Department welcomes written comments to be read to those in attendance.   Individuals may submit comments online at www.dutchessny.gov/forumcomments, may fax comments to (845) 486-2829, or mail to:  Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Forum, 230 North Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY  12601.
