Cause Determined in Fatal Hopewell House Fire:
East Fishkill Police report that the East Fishkill Fire Department and Dutchess County Fire Investigation Unit have determined the cause and origin of the Augusta Dr. house fire last Saturday evening, was an accidental electrical fire starting in a wall for the structure.
The fire took the life of the homeowner, 52 year old Katherine Perez. An autopsy performed by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office indicated that Perez had died as a result of smoke inhalation. Two other occupants of the home escaped before the fire reached their downstairs apartment.
