Poughkeepsie man charged with possessing drugs and stolen handgun

Poughkeepsie, New York – On October 14, 2016, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks arrested Kayf C. Devaughn, age 23, of Poughkeepsie, New York. Devaughn was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, all Felonies. Devaughn was also charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree, a Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

On October 14, 2016, at about 8:50 p.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Mill Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.  Devaughn, the driver of the vehicle, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Devaughn was also found to possess a loaded handgun, Ecstasy (MDMA) and Marihuana. The Glock pistol found on Devaughn had been reported stolen in 2013 to the Glendale Police Department in Arizona.

Devaughn was arraigned at the Town of Poughkeepsie Court before the Honorable Judge Sullivan and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear before the City of Poughkeepsie Court on October 17, 2016 at 8:00 a.m.
