Claverack, NY man arrested for Leandra’s Law and Endangering the Welfare of a Child

PRESS RELEASE

Canaan, NY – On September 14, 2016, at approximately 9:38 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90 for a traffic violation.  The driver of the vehicle, Timothy M. Bragan, 34, of Claverack, NY, was found to be impaired by drugs while traveling with children ages 4 and 10.  He was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP New Lebanon, where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).  Bragan refused to submit to a blood draw to determine the drug content in his system and was subsequently charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs with a Child; a Class E Felony
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child; a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations

Bragan was arraigned before the Town of Canaan Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000bond.

The children were turned over to their grandfather.
