Poughkeepsie, NY: As Labor Day approaches, Terry Gipson’s campaign for the New York State Senate has scored a key victory, gaining endorsement of the 2.5 million working members of the NY State AFL-CIO. While many Upstate incumbents were endorsed by the group, the unique endorsement of Terry Gipson was an acknowledgement that a change was needed in Senate District 41 to better serve working men and women across New York State.

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the working men and women of the New York State AFL-CIO,” said Terry Gipson. “Our state needs leaders who will fight to create good middle-class jobs, for a change. I am committed to addressing the concerns of working people of Dutchess and Putnam Counties – growing our economy, lowering property taxes, and providing quality education for every family’s children.”

“Terry Gipson doesn’t just talk about fighting for good jobs – he actively participates,” said Frank Fauci, President of CWA Local 1120. “When our members were on strike for 45 days, without health care for their families, Terry Gipson joined us on the picket line. His opponent was nowhere to be found. Our members know that Terry is the only candidate for Senate District 41 who will fight for them.”

“Students and teachers in the Hudson Valley are faced with many challenges,” said Kathy Taylor, NYSUT. “Our union supports Terry Gipson because he understands the needs of students, parents, and the educational community. He will work hard to ensure our schools are fully funded so that every child receives a quality education. We also know that he is committed allowing our teachers to perform the job they love at a high level.”

“Terry Gipson is a true champion of hard working Hudson Valley residents,” said Ron Diaz, President of the Dutchess County Central Labor Council. “I’ve known Terry for many years, and he has always stood out for his integrity, dedication, and commitment to building a strong middle class in the Hudson Valley.”

“The Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation AFL-CIO representing 114,000 union members in the Hudson Valley stands firmly behind Terry Gipson and his campaign for the NYS Senate District 41,” said Paul Ellis-Graham, President of the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation. “We have worked with Terry while he was our NYS Senator and know he has a strong commitment to helping middle class workers make a living wage, have representation in the work place and be safe while working. Terry has stood on picket lines and supported many of our members in their time of need and that is why we support Terry Gipson.”

“Terry Gipson previously proved to be an effective NYS Senator and The Westchester Putnam Central Labor Body has unanimously endorsed his campaign for the NYS Senate once again,” said Paul Ryan, President of The Westchester Putnam Central Labor Body.
