State Police from the Livingston barracks charge Greenport man with Assault

Claverack, New York – On August 20, 2016, New York State Police from the Livingston barracks charged 19-year-old Jacob O’Leary of Greenport, New York, with Assault in the 1st Degree, a Class B Felony.

On August 20, 2016, Troopers were dispatched by Columbia County 911 to Columbia Memorial Hospital for a reported stabbing.  The 18-year-old victim reported that he and group of friends were at a party on Humane Society Road when a verbal altercation turned physical.  During the fight, the victim reported that he was stabbed in the abdomen by an unknown male subject.    The victim’s peers transported him to Columbia Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

Subsequent to a detailed investigation, O’Leary was identified as the suspect who had stabbed the victim.  O’Leary was placed in custody and charged with Assault in the 1st Degree.

O’Leary was arraigned in the Town of Claverack Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
