Amenia – This week, leading convenience retailer, Cumberland Farms kicked off its 5th annual Cups for Kids fundraiser to benefits pediatric programs at five Northeast Hospitals – including Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center. Throughout the entire month of August, customers can stop by their local Cumberland Farms at 3339 Route 343 in Amenia for a Chill Zone beverage including HYPERFREEZE™, and 5 cents from every purchase will go directly to Albany Medical Center. In 2015, the brand donated over $13,000 to Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center – and a total of $425,000 to all of its hospital partners across New England & New York.

Cumberland Farms kicked-off Cups for Kids with a special event last Tuesday at Jillian’s & Lucky Strike Lanes in Boston, where patients and families enjoyed bowling, food, and fun before attending the Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers game. Representing Albany Medical Center throughout the Cups For Kids fundraiser is four-year-old Aedan Conway of Delmar, New York. Aedan was born with a critical congenital heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Part of his heart didn’t develop properly in utero. Within the first week of his life, Aedan underwent delicate surgery performed by Neil Devejian, M.D. – the only pediatric heart surgeon in New York’s Capital Region. By his second birthday, Aedan had had three open-heart surgeries and three cardiac catheterizations. Today, Aedan is a healthy boy!
