Brewster, New York – On July 5, 2016, New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested 29-year-old Edy A. Perez, of Wingdale, New York, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a Class E Felony, and Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Troopers were dispatched to Main Street in the Village of Brewster to assist the village police with a hit and run auto collision.  An investigation revealed that Perez, who was operating a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder, struck the Village of Brewster Police vehicle and subsequently fled on foot.   Moments later, Troopers located Perez running on Main Street and placed him in custody following a brief struggle.  Further investigation revealed that Perez was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Perez was charged with felony DWI when a criminal history revealed that he was convicted of a DWI related offense in 2013.

The defendant provided a positive breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .20%, more than two times the legal limit of intoxication.

He was arraigned in the Town of Patterson Justice Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.  He is scheduled to reappear in the Village of Brewster Court on July 11, 2016.
