Fishkill, New York – On June 18, 2016 at approximately 1:00 p.m., New York State Police responded to a two-car rollover auto collision that occurred on I84 westbound, just east of Exit 13.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Mary Haggerty, age 84, of Poughquag (Town of Beekman) and Andre Jenkins, 43 years old, of Mahopac, New York, were both traveling westbound on I84.

Jenkins, who was traveling in the right lane, attempted to exit the interstate at Exit 13 northbound.  Haggerty, who was traveling in the left lane, exited her lane for an unknown reason, crossed over all lanes of travel and struck the rear driver’s side quarter panel of Jenkin’s vehicle.  Jenkin’s vehicle flipped onto its roof and slid down the right shoulder of the roadway.  Haggerty’s vehicle flipped over the guide rail and traveled approximately 150 yards down an embankment before it came to rest.

Mobil Life transported Ms. Haggerty to Saint Luke’s Hospital where she was pronounced deceased upon her arrival.

Jenkins and his 7-year-old son were transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital by EMstar with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the State Police Wappinger BCI by calling (845) 677-7300.
