Poughkeepsie woman arrested for Grand Larceny

06/09/16 – The New York State Police – Highland BCI announce the arrest of 57 year old Kathleen C. Merritt of Poughkeepsie, NY for Grand Larceny 2nd (Class C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th (Class D Felony).
On 06/09/16 the New York State Police arrested Merritt after an investigation revealed that she had stolen over $50,000 from a 93 year old female for whom she was providing home health care to. The investigation found that Merritt gained access to the victim’s financial accounts and proceeded to unlawfully withdraw from them. Subsequent to her arrest Merritt was found to possess approximately 700 mg of cocaine in her purse.
Merritt was arraigned at the Town of Plattekill Court before T/J Murphy. She was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $150,000/$300,000 cash/secured bond. She is due back in the Town of Lloyd Court on June 14, 2016 at 5:00pm.
