Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Mahopac woman on a pair of misdemeanor charges.

On May 11, 2016 at approximately 9:45 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a lobby complaint at the Sheriff’s Department in Carmel. The female complainant stated that she was the victim of a pedestrian hit and run accident that occurred in the Mahopac section of the Town of Carmel. The case was then turned over to Criminal Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).

On May 13, 2016 after a lengthy investigation, criminal investigators charged Kerry A. Massi, aged 53, of 33 Curry Road, Mahopac with Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Third Degree and with Making a Punishable False Written Statement, misdemeanors. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility, issued an appearance ticket and released in her own recognizance pending a June 20, 2016 court appearance in Town of Carmel Justice Court.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
