Michael D. Gates, 56, a resident of Putnam Valley, NY, died on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY after a long battle with kidney disease. Born on May 21, 1959 in Middlebury, VT, he was the son of the late Guy Gates, Jr. and Eunice L. Coltey Gates who survives in Wingdale, NY. He attended Pawling schools and graduated in 1977.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sisters, Deborah Oakley of New Milford CT, Stacey Gates Shatas of Waterbury, CT and Dale Gates Williams of Wingdale, NY and two brothers, Kevin Gates of West Rutland, VT and Guy Gates III of West Rutland, VT. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was also predeceased by a sister, Patricia Gates.
