Two Car Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident Town of Marbletown

PRESS RELEASE

On April 3, 2016 the New York State Police – Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Uniform Troopers at the Kingston Barracks investigated a 2 car fatal motor vehicle accident on Route 209 in the Town of Marbletown.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle travelling northbound on Route 209 near the intersection of Pine Tree Lane in the Town of Marbletown veered from its lane and struck head on a vehicle travelling southbound. The reason for the northbound vehicle veering from its lane has yet to be determined. The operator of the northbound vehicle was extricated from his vehicle by responding fire department personell and transported to Kingston Hospital emergency room with non-life threatening injuries. The operator of the southbound vehicle was also transported to the Kingston Hospital Emergency Room for non-life threatening injuries. Both operators were later transfered to Albany Medical Center for further treatment. The passenger in the southboud vehicle was trasported to the Kingston Hospital Emergency Room and was pronounced deceased.

A section of Route 209 between Old Route 209 and Marcott Road was closed in both directions during the initial response and subsequent accident investigation. No charges were filed at the time and the investigation is ongoing.

Assisting the State Police at the scene were the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Hurley Fire Department, Town of Marbletown Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Spring Lake Fire Department and Mobile Life Paramedics.
