PRESS RELEASE

New York State Police announce the arrests of  Joshuah Q. Vaughan, age 20, of Wallkill, NY and a 17 year old male from Middletown.  The 17 year old male was charged with the felony of Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and the misdemeanor of Conspiracy in the 5th Degree.  Mr. Vaughan was charged with the felonies of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 3rd Degree.
A lengthy larceny investigation that commenced in the Town of Hamptonburgh on December 7, 2015 revealed that a resident had advertised the sale of two dirt bikes on Craigslist.  It was determined that shortly after showing the dirt bikes to a prospective customer, both bikes were stolen shortly thereafter.  Further intelligence was gathered with similar larcenies that were being investigated by the Town of Ulster Police Department.  A collective effort revealed a common IP Address associated with items being listed on Craigslist.  A forensic analysis of the phone calls and cell phone revealed a common address in Middletown.  That, along with further investigative steps, resulted in a search warrant being executed in the Town of Wallkill which yielded approximately 9 ounces of marihuana, assorted drug paraphernalia, several thousand dollars cash, stolen dirt bike parts from the original Hamptonburgh larceny and an assortment of “fruity pebbles treats” believed to be traced with an illegal substance.  The “treats” are being analyzed by the New York State Police Lab.

Mr. Vaughan was issued an Appearnace Ticket returnable to the Town of Wallkill court on March 22, 2016.  The 17 year old was also issued an Appearnce Ticket returnable to the Town of Hamptonburgh Court on March 23, 2016.  The investigation is continuing with further arrests pending.
