Motorists Face DWI Charges

 Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the recent arrests of motorists on DWI charges.

 

On January 15, 2016 at 1:36 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Vincent Dalo stopped a motorist who had committed traffic violations on Route 311 in the Town of Kent. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Christina M. Pondiccio, 21, of 22 Abbey Lane, Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Ms. Pondiccio and charged her with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the woman failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

On January 28, 2016 at approximately 2:50 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich stopped a motorist who had committed traffic violations on Route 312 in the Town of Southeast. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as James F. Sorrell, 31, of 95 Fair Street, Carmel was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Sorrell and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendants could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
