Beekman woman arrested for unlawfully collecting unemployment benefits

Beekman, New York – On January 18, 2016, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Dawn A. Jawrower, 45 years old, of Beekman, New York, for Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, and Falsifying Business Records in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.

The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the New York State Department of Labor and the New York State Police.

Jawrower is accused of unlawfully collecting over $8,200 in unemployment benefits between January of 2011 and June of 2013.   The defendant created false business records by falsely certifying that she was totally unemployed when in fact she was gainfully employed.

Jawrower was arraigned before the Town of LaGrange Court and released on her own recognizance.  She is due to appear before the Town of Beekman Court on January 28, 2016.
