Lakeville – Anthony John “Tony” Genito, Jr., 77, a lifelong area resident, died Monday, January 18, 2016 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Tony operated the family farm on Stateline Road in Lakeville, CT, from 1958 to 1989 at which time he began performing custom farm work for various farms in the area until August of 2015. For many years he was instrumental in operating Flood’s Equipment Auction in Amenia, NY.
Born January 18, 1939 in Sharon, CT, he was the son of the late Anthony J. and Grace (Wiwatowski) Genito, Sr. Tony attended Salisbury Central School and was a graduate of (Class of 1957) Housatonic Valley Regional High School. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lakeville, a church that his family has attended for over one hundred years. Tony will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his beloved sister, Katherine J. Genito of Lakeville, CT, his aunt, Rose Genito of Salisbury and several cousins and many friends.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 5-8 pm at 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 76 Sharon Road, Lakeville, CT. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cobble Road, Salisbury, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 582, Salisbury, CT, 06068.
