Millbrook man arrested following joint investigation with New York State Department of Labor

PRESS RELEASE

Dover, New York – On January 15, 2016, New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested 29-year-old Brian S. Mead Jr., of Millbrook, New York, for Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, and Falsifying Business Records in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.

The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the New York State Department of Labor and the New York State Police.

Mead is accused of stealing over $4,300 in unemployment benefits over several months in 2012 and 2013.   He made false business records by certifying weekly that he was totally unemployed when in fact he was gainfully employed.

Mead, who was lodged in the Dutchess County Jail on unrelated charges, is scheduled to appear in the Town of Dover Court on February 8, 2016.
