Search warrant leads to arrest of Wappingers Falls man on gun charges

On January 15, 2016, the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) in conjunction with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Neighborhood Recovery Unit (NRU), and Members of State Police – Wappingers, conducted a narcotics investigation which resulted in the execution of a search warrant at 21 Mill Street, Apartment #2, Wappingers Falls, NY. The search warrant resulted in the arrest of Savata M. Monroe, age 42, and the seizure of two loaded handguns; described as a revolver, and a semi-automatic pistol.

Monroe was charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, a class C Felony. Monroe was arraigned in the Village of Wappingers Falls Court, and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond. The investigation is continuing.
