Amenia Winter Market

First & Third Saturdays January – April,

10:00 to 2:00, Amenia Town Hall gymnasium

So the cold of winter has finally arrived. Personally, I think a no-nonsense chill in the air makes a fresh cider donut taste that much better. Right? That’s a totally normal and grown-up thing to think? Just nod, say yes. Cold weather makes all sorts of things taste better, and somehow just so perfectly right for the season – long-simmered stews, roasts steaming as they’re pulled from the oven, dishes heaped with hearty spiced veggies, nut cookies with a hot cup of tea… Winter tastes pretty good to me! Yum. Tomorrow’s market will be filled with delicious tummy-warming things to bring home to your cozy den.

Exciting news: Love Feast will be back! Yes, Kamini will be selling her vegan Indian-inspired prepared foods in Amenia once again! She’ll have rice and curries and samosas and other such tasty things! Welcome back, Kamini! We’ve missed you!

Running Creek Farm will have veggies aplenty for roasting and braising (or for whipping up into a killer salad) including tatsoi, cabbage, rutabegas, carrots, butternut squash, radishes, beet greens, parsnips, arugula, turnips, and a limited quantity of baby gold beets (delicious shaved raw into salads). Between Meili Farm and Dashing Star Farm, we’ll have much beef, pork and lamb for stewing and otherwise cooking into tender deliciousness including roasts, chops, steaks, ground meats, stew meats, sausages, bacon and more. This week only – free lamb recipe books with any lamb loin chop purchase. Also eggs! We will have eggs, but maybe don’t wait until 1:55 to come get yours.

Mitch of M&M Italian Provisions will be back with his huge assortment of exceptionally tasty Italian cheeses, cured meats, breads and pastas. Such excellent, hearty foods! He offers samples of many of his items as well as a quick immersion-style lesson in Italian culture and foods.

Carol Bonci will have her incredibly tasty handmade artisanal-to-the-max gourmet pizzas, flatbreads and buttery baguettes.

Leela of Coco’s Crumbs will be back with her huge range of baked goods including pies, cakes, tarts, cookies, bars and more!

Dianne Engleke will be selling her photograpic prints of farm animals, wild animals and of our stunning local scenery.

Ruth’s Southern Classics Desserts will have a great variety of all-natural, handmade, authentic southern pies including – to name just a few – chess pie, sweet potato pie, and pecan pie.

Chris of Cookies by Mabel will also be back with her Amazing Toffee cookies (regular and chocolate) as well as several other types of cookies, all bagged and perfect for gifting. Remember, it is a lovely idea to treat yourself, too! Samples always available.

And we’ll have donuts! Oh yes indeed, Great Cape Baking Company will be back with fresh cider donuts and cinnamon and several types of fresh-baked bread. Guilty pleasures by the dozen…

All this and more will be found at tomorrow’s Amenia Winter Market, 10:00am to 2:00pm, in the warm and always bright gym of the Amenia Town Hall. We look forward to seeing you there!

Best,
