Poughkeepsie woman charged with identity theft

Poughkeepsie, New York – On January 12, 2016, New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Ivorey Wells, 32 years old, of Poughkeepsie, New York, for Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, Identity Theft 2nd Degree, a Class E Felony, and Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

In December of 2015, Troopers were contacted by an Ossining woman who reported that someone had used her identity during a traffic stop that took place in July of 2015. Following a detailed investigation, it was discovered that Wells had used the victim’s name and date of birth during a traffic stop to avoid being issued traffic tickets.

Wells was arraigned before the Town of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond. She is scheduled to reappear before the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on January 14, 2016.
