Brentwood woman visiting Sing Sing inmate charged with promoting prison contraband

Ossining, New York – On January 14, 2016, New York State Police from the Hawthorne Barracks arrested Laverne R. Lane, 46 years old, of Brentwood, New York, for Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, both Class A Misdemeanors.
Troopers were contacted to assist the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations with the arrest of Lane, who entered Sing Sing Correctional Facility with methadone. The defendant was at the facility to visit an inmate.
Lane was issued an appearance ticket directing her to appear before the Town of Ossining Justice Court on January 26, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.
