Putnam Valley Man Faces Domestic Violence Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Putnam Valley man during a domestic dispute.

On January 6, 2016 at 8:53 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Benjamin Levine responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the Town of Putnam Valley. Upon arrival, the deputy determined that Gheorghe Stavila, 65, of that address had assaulted his wife during the dispute. The deputy arrested Mr. Stavila and charged him with Assault in the Third Degree and with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, misdemeanors. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
