Connecticut Man Charged With DWI

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Connecticut man on a DWI charge.

On January 12, 2016 at 12:24 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Keith Blessing observed a motorist driving erratically on Route 6 in the Town of Southeast. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the deputy determined that the driver, identified as Marcelino Hernandez-Pena, 45, of 115 Fort Hill Road, New Milford, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Hernandez-Pena and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
