Newburgh man charged with felony drug possession following traffic stop

Fishkill, New York – On January 8, 2016, New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Shawn Albright, 39 years old, of Newburgh, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, a Class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

Troopers stopped a Honda traveling on State Route 52 for a window tint violation.  Troopers interviewed the vehicle’s occupants and observed an odor of marihuana emanating from within the vehicle.  Following an investigation conducted by the arresting officer Albright, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was found to unlawfully possess Xanax, Oxycodone, Viagra, and marihuana.

Albright was arraigned before the Town of LaGrange Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.  He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Fishkill Court on January 13, 2016.
